Natural Hoof care and Trimming Class With Chad Bembenek



Chad is a founding member of the American Hoof Association and an instructor for the Equine Sciences Academy.
This class is designed for the horse owner to learn more about the mechanism of the hoof and learn the skills necessary to begin trimming their own horse.




This class will meet for 6 sessions, 1PM to 5PM, culminating with hands on, supervised trimming at
The Horse First Farm in Brooklyn, WI near Madison. The cost is $400. Classes begin January 16, 2010.

Session 1: Saturday, January 16, 1pm to 5pm
Intro to Natural Hoof care and Gross Anatomy terminology in the lower leg. Hoof form and function and tool selection.

Session 2: Saturday, January 30, 1pm to 5pm
Anatomy with dried specimens and The Glass Hoof, hoof protection and boot fitting, treating navicular, founder, and frog infections.

Session3:-S-aturday, February 13, 1pm to 5pm
Cadaver trimming, tool handling, knife and nipper sharpening

Session 4: Saturday, February 27, 1pm to 5pm
Cadaver trimming, tool handling, dissection of the hoof capsule

Session 5: Saturday, March 13, 1pm to 5pm
Live trimming and trim evaluations

Session 6: Saturday, March 27, 1pm to 5pm

• All classes are horseless except for Saturday, March 13 and 27.
Negative Coggins and $5 trailer in fee will be required for horses coming from off premises.
